Frequently Asked Questions

  • To begin, reach out to us via our inquiry form, phone, or e-mail to schedule a free initial consultation. During this conversation, we’ll discuss your child’s needs, answer your questions, and explore whether our neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-centered therapy approach aligns with your family’s values and goals for care.

Please note: Due to high demand, Gab & Grow is currently operating with a waitlist. Appointments typically become available when current clients are discharged from therapy, move away, or choose to take a break. Because these factors are unpredictable, we are unable to provide a definite time frame for availability.

Joining the waitlist allows us to better understand community needs and ensures we have your information on file to reach out when an opening becomes available.

  • We specialize in pediatric speech and language therapy, addressing a range of areas including early intervention, speech sound disorders, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), receptive and expressive language skills, and pragmatic/social communication. Our goal is to support each child’s unique communication needs through tailored, evidence-based approaches.

  • Please e-mail hello@gabandgrow.org or call us to inquire about current rates for evaluations and therapy services.

  • Evaluations may include play-based or standardized assessments, dynamic testing, speech/language samples from natural interactions, and input from caregivers or teachers. A detailed report will be provided and a family consultation will be scheduled to review results and set meaningful goals.

  • Therapy sessions are available in 30-, 45-, or 60-minute durations based on your child’s individual needs.

  • Each session is child-led and play-based, allowing your child to explore and engage with activities that interest them while ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The therapist follows your child’s lead, embedding language and communication opportunities naturally within their preferred activities. This approach encourages meaningful interaction and fosters skill development in a way that feels enjoyable and comfortable for your child.

  • Stay engaged by observing and participating as your therapist guides you, and always encourage your child’s efforts. On days without therapy, create plenty of opportunities for practice. Incorporate the skills and strategies introduced during therapy into your daily routines to reinforce learning and build consistency.

  • Gab & Grow is a private-pay practice and is considered an out-of-network provider with all insurance companies. Unfortunately, we do not accept Medicaid and do not bill insurance directly at this time.

A superbill (an itemized receipt of services) can be provided upon request. This document can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Please note: Reimbursement is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact their insurance provider directly to learn more about their out-of-network benefits and coverage for speech-language therapy services.

  • Payment is due at the time of service and can be made using cash, check, credit card, or health savings account (HSA) cards.

A 10% fee of the check amount will be charged for any returned checks due to insufficient funds. In the event of a returned check, final payment including fees must be made immediately in cash.

Please note: If payment is not received at the time of service and no alternative arrangement has been made, a late fee will be applied to your account to ensure timely processing. Services will be paused until all outstanding payments are received. Prompt payment helps us maintain consistent scheduling and quality care for all families.

  • Yes! We are an approved provider for Step Up for Students and accept the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities. We are proud to offer comprehensive support to eligible students throughout Florida, with both in-person and virtual services available.

  • Mobile therapy offers valuable flexibility and convenience for families. We provide services throughout Central Florida, primarily Osceola and Orange counties, including mobile visits to homes, community settings, and virtual sessions.

  • A travel fee may apply for one-way distances of 10 miles or more from Joyce’s base location in Lake Nona, Florida. This fee covers mileage, travel time, and any tolls incurred. It is billed monthly in addition to therapy rates.

Please note: This fee also accounts for the dedicated time reserved exclusively to travel for your child’s session, ensuring focused, individualized care outside our standard service area.

  • We embrace a neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-centered approach tailored to each child’s unique needs, including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and sensory preferences. This means we honor all forms of communication: spoken language, gestures, sign language, written expression, body language, AAC - because what matters most is communicating effectively.

Being neurodiversity-affirming means recognizing and respecting neurological differences as natural variations rather than deficits. This approach supports your child’s strengths and creates a safe, empowering environment where their individual communication style is valued.
